Aziza Smith saved the best for last. Listening to her CD, Fawn, is a trip through different styles and subjects – rock, blues, some Latin touches, secular and Christian songs. She can be sultry and crooning in "The Walls Have Ears" and "I Get To You."

You feel the pain and passion as she advocates for animals in songs like "I Will Be Your Voice" which goes from crunchy guitar to Smith fiercely singing "Take your blindfolds off!" "Jesus Is All" is a driving, soulful ’60s-style rocker taking Smith’s Christian convictions and applying them to everyday life, demanding a comeback for compassion and integrity. But then you get to "Way Down" and all the rest goes out the window.

A bluesy growl kicks the song off, building into rollicking Zeppelin-like rock. In the midst of the delightfully chaotic guitar work Smith’s voice comes back, demanding and probing. Why aren’t you doing something? Why aren’t you protecting animals and other people? Why don’t you stand up and do what’s right? It’s a captivating track that should be all over the radio – some of the most plain-spoken and honest rock music I’ve heard in years.
